About us
Four pioneering photographers, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Robert Capa, George Rodger and David “Chim” Seymour, had the insight to claim their editorial independence by retaining ownership of their copyrights. Today’s photographers are seeking to build upon this pioneering legacy with a newly formed charitable organization, The Magnum Foundation (TMF). Launched in 2007, TMF is working to bring over half a century of historic and iconic photographs to the public and support the work of a new generation of documentary photographers.
The Magnum Foundation's
Core Programs
Established for educational, charitable and cultural purposes, the Magnum Foundation focuses on four program areas: production and distribution of in-depth documentary projects; awards and grants to aspiring photojournalists; initiatives to preserve the archives of independent photographers; and public service collaborations.
