Esopus

Since 2011, the Legacy Program has collaborated with the journal Esopus to publish lesser-known stories by Magnum photographers through the "Analog Recovery" series. The series re-creates stories using Magnum's analog distribution system, the means by which photographs circulated in the pre-digital era.

Steidl

The Steidl/Magnum Foundation imprint presents major monographs as well as little known stories by Magnum photographers. The first three publications will be: a facsimile re-creation of an unpublished project by Erich and Ruth Hartmann, From a Summer Notebook; Paul Fusco: Political America, a retrospective look at Fusco’s work with poor and under-represented communities since the 1950s; and George Rodger: Color Kordofan, the first publication of Rodger’s color photographs made during his legendary visits with the Nuba People of Sudan.

Prestel

The Legacy Program has partnered with Prestel on the Magnum Biography Series. Each book in the series will include a comprehensive biographical text about an individual photographer, focusing on key stories/events in her or his career. The text will be supplemented by visual material, drawing extensively from the photographer’s archive (contact sheets, caption notes, tear sheets,etc.). Through its unique and unprecedented access to archival materials, the Biography Series series will explore individual creative process, the mechanics of story-making, and the evolving relationship of photojournalism to the various media outlets that Magnum Photos has served since its inception.
